St. Joseph's Hospital Health Center Emergency Services
In order to address the high priority of the Emergency Department, and to accommodate the phasing necessary to maintain hospital operation during construction, the project was proposed in two major stages, Phase 2A (the Emergency Department, Kitchen and Loading Dock) and Phase 2B (OR Suite and Bed Tower).
The first phase of this project, Phase 2A, opened in winter of 2011 with a brand new Emergency Services Building. The new facility includes a 38 bed emergency department, Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program (CPEP), Trauma Area and Ambulance Entrance, Fast Track Area and a new department 15 bed Observation/Clinical Decision Unit. This phase also included renovations to the main kitchen to support a food service model for patient nutrition.
