We are excited to welcome Angela Freeman as our newest interior designer! In her own words, here are her feelings on joining our team, Hello King + King, and thank you for the warm welcome! I grew up right here in Syracuse, where some of my first artistic efforts included coloring in old floor plans. (My dad’s home office didn’t last long.) I’ve wanted to be an interior designer ever since I learned that the job existed. I followed my passion to RIT’s BFA program, where I also completed a minor in Writing Studies and a concentration in Psychology. After graduating and spending several years honing my skillset at various firms, I am thrilled to be joining King + King! When I’m not designing (at work or at home, as my husband knows all too well), I love to plan new travel adventures. . . . . . #newhire #congrats #interiordesigner #welcome #syracuse #cnyjobs

Mikayla Starr is a fifth year architecture student at Syracuse University and currently interning in our education studio. This is what she has to say about working here, Everyone here at King + King is so friendly and helpful, and I have learned so much. Each day I get to see a new aspect of a project, working with different people within the firm who each have their own skills set.

The Davuluri Family Lounge is the former Elevator Lobby of the 5th Floor at St. Joseph’s Health Hospital, and serves as the entrance to their Women’s and Children’s Services. Though the renovated space is not large in scale, it has a significant impact on the patients, visitors, and staff that step onto the unit. The Hospital’s vision was for a “warm and inviting” entrance that provided clear wayfinding onto the floor, which houses several units for Women’s and Children’s Services. The space also was designed to pay tribute to an OB/GYN Doctor that worked many years on the Unit, Dr. Chaudhury Davuluri. Through collaboration with both the Davuluri Family and St. Joseph’s Health, King + King was able to provide a space that was beautiful, as well as honored Dr. Davuluri in an elegant and modern way. Incorporating Artwork as a centerpiece to the space was incredibly important, and the mural design was custom created by King + King to marry a collage of open skies and oceans, which is reflective of the hobbies of Dr. Davuluri, as well as a symbol of life and endless possibilities. The Dedication Wall flanks one end of the seating space, and offers hand-written memories provided by Dr. Davuluri’s colleagues that float delicately off of the wall below his portrait. King + King was honored to be a part of this project, as well as having the opportunity to lead the collaboration and design process with all parties. . . . . @stjosephshealth #architecture #architecturephotography #design #designer #maternity #architecturedesign #syracuseny #interiordesign #beforeandafter #transformation
