As a part of our efforts to always be educating our staff, we had guests from the Upstate New York Mason Contractors Association of America (MCAA) to do a five part series on masonry design. We really appreciate them coming in! They even handed out &blocks&to those students who completed their homework!
We were happy to host the March CNY Association of School Business Officials meeting at our office. We appreciated the opportunity to tour everyone through our LEED platinum building. Thanks for visiting CNY ASBO!
We are excited to have another new team member! David Markfelder just joined our team as a designer. Here’s a little more about him; “Hello everyone! I am excited about being part of the King + King family and to be working alongside many of you. I was born and raised on Long Island; so yes, I do pronounce “water, drawer, ask and coffee” different then the CNY folk. I studied architecture at Marywood University spending a semester abroad in Florence Italy traveling throughout Italy and to Germany while there. Throughout my time studying I have interned at two small residential firms and the Port Authority of NY & NJ at JFK airport. In my spare time I enjoy woodworking and recently have designed a live edge river table and intend on building more along with custom cutting boards. I also have an interest in many outdoor activities including hiking and snowboarding, so if you have any good suggestions on places to go in the area I am all ears. I look forward to meeting and getting the chance to work with everyone.”
We are excited to highlight another one of our great interns! Margaret Hamann is currently at Syracuse University Environmental and Interior Design Program. Here are her thoughts on her internship, I am incredibly thankful for my internship at King + King. Being able to work through the fall and spring has given me an overwhelming amount of design industry knowledge. I have had the opportunity to work on projects long term and build confidence as a designer working as a part of a bigger team with high goals. Feeling welcomed and appreciated since day one by the people I get to learn from has been an absolute treat as an intern!
We are excited to welcome Angela Freeman as our newest interior designer! In her own words, here are her feelings on joining our team, Hello King + King, and thank you for the warm welcome! I grew up right here in Syracuse, where some of my first artistic efforts included coloring in old floor plans. (My dad’s home office didn’t last long.) I’ve wanted to be an interior designer ever since I learned that the job existed. I followed my passion to RIT’s BFA program, where I also completed a minor in Writing Studies and a concentration in Psychology. After graduating and spending several years honing my skillset at various firms, I am thrilled to be joining King + King! When I’m not designing (at work or at home, as my husband knows all too well), I love to plan new travel adventures.
Mikayla Starr is a fifth year architecture student at Syracuse University and currently interning in our education studio. This is what she has to say about working here, Everyone here at King + King is so friendly and helpful, and I have learned so much. Each day I get to see a new aspect of a project, working with different people within the firm who each have their own skills set.
