King + King was selected to work on The Br@in Cafe – a student consortium which supports providing good brain foods to students. Our goal was to modify an 1,150 s.f. of lightly-utilized existing dining hall space to include the Br@in Cafe and provide more diversity in the dining products offered by the SUNY Oneonta Food Service. The design includes a new space plan featuring the service counter and seating areas. The café includes new finishes, flexible furnishings, as well as a stage area for Jazz nights, for a true coffee house atmosphere.
The high-tech feel of the space is augmented by the shiny metallic ceiling curtains and service counter, as well as the availability of wireless internet flat screen TVs and the ability to dock a laptop on the arm of your chair. All this is balanced by the warmth of a gas fireplace for a spot to warm up on those chilly winter days or nights.
