Entry + Lobby Addition

Location:  Verona, NY

Completed:  Fall 2006

Program:  Entry + Lobby Addition

Construction Type:  Addition

Vernon Verona Sherrill Middle + High School received a new main entrance/lobby addition which provided a flexible learning space for the District as well as linked their two existing gymnasiums together creating a more cohesive space.  The new addition was named the Sheveron Community Center. Its’ centrally located entrance offers a “sense of arrival” to visitors when entering the building for sporting events and special celebrations, such as graduations. Once inside the space opens up to an impressive main lobby which is utilized as a large gathering space, accommodates overflow during events, and is used as a student break-out area. This space also contains a unique “project based learning” School Store/Concession Area/Learning Lab. An actual working store was designed to support the District’s business curriculum and agri-market program. Students gain valuable experience in retailing including accounting practices, merchandising, and customer service.
