An Extension of Energetic Events
At Syracuse University, the design team was tasked with creating a multifunctional space that serves as a pre-game lounge for VIP members during sporting events and converts into a storage area when no events are taking place.

The Kuhn Gameday Lounge is a premium field-level and courtside space located within the JMA Wireless Dome on the Syracuse University campus. Designed to enhance the game-day experience, the lounge provides a gathering space for pre-game festivities for football, basketball, and lacrosse, as well as a place for fans to reconnect during halftime.

The interior design intentionally incorporates Syracuse University’s signature orange and blue color palette, reinforcing the university’s brand identity and creating a cohesive visual connection to the surrounding athletic environment.

Large glass doors and expansive window walls offer a unique behind-the-scenes perspective, allowing guests to witness and immerse themselves in the home team pre-game gathering as they prepare to run through “the tunnel” and onto the field, creating a connected and exclusive experience.

Because the space must also function as a storage area for athletic equipment, material selection was a critical design consideration. Heavy machinery regularly moves in and out of the lounge, requiring finishes and furnishings that are highly durable, resilient, movable, and easy to maintain.
All materials were carefully selected to withstand frequent wear while preserving the premium aesthetic expected of a VIP space, ensuring long-term functionality without compromising design quality.
