Modernizing an Essential Facility

The renovation began with replacement of the deteriorated pool slab and supporting structure, creating a reliable foundation for decades of continued use. The project also included a new stainless steel gutter system with evacuator, replacement pool piping, updated filtration and mechanical equipment, new interior finishes, and modifications to pool depths to meet current competitive diving requirements.

While much of the work occurred behind the scenes, these improvements significantly enhance the facility’s long-term durability, performance, and ease of maintenance.

Designed Around School Pride

Through the district’s visioning process, the renovation evolved beyond infrastructure improvements to become an opportunity to strengthen school identity. West Genesee’s blue and gold colors are woven throughout the space, from the custom acoustic ceiling baffles to the pool deck accents and architectural finishes.

A large-scale feature mural spanning the natatorium wall establishes an unmistakable sense of place, celebrating the Wildcats while creating a dynamic backdrop for competitions and community events. Combined with improved lighting and refreshed finishes, the renovated facility feels bright, energetic, and distinctly West Genesee.
