Revamping a Business School’s Image

The 120,000 sf home to Syracuse University’s business school was constructed in the early 2000’s and remained largely untouched since opening. Through design discussions with the University and School leadership and development of several feasibility studies, the project scope evolved from updating signage and renovating offices in select areas to a complete reimagining of the school’s branded environment.

The school’s goal was to activate the shared public spaces of the building with renewed brand imagery and usable spaces for students, faculty + guests.

Blending Art + Architecture

Our design team ultimately renovated approximately 18,000 sf of gathering spaces, office suites, and collaboration rooms. We also updated the finishes throughout the ‘Main Street’ corridor on all 7 levels. We repainted walls with neutral colors that blended with the building to create a calm background for new and vibrant environmental design installations, and we revamped the wayfinding signage.

Influenced by the University’s iconic logo, the design team created a custom repeating pattern to be used throughout the building within office suites, lounge spaces, and along corridor walls.

Placemaking with Graphic Design

Blending signage, wayfinding, artwork and multi-use public spaces, we have elevated the day-to-day functions of students, faculty and staff while reinvigorating the school’s mission of remaining at the forefront of leadership education.

The main entry promenade was updated with new brick pavers and a snowmelt system.

Let’s create.

We believe architecture should be accessible, sustainable, and meaningful, with an emphasis on design that makes a positive and lasting impact.
